Recipe

  • 30ml Gin
  • 30ml Campari
  • 30ml Dubonnet

Stir with ice in an old-fashioned glass. Garnish with slice of orange.

It should have been made with Sweet Vermouth, but we only had Dubonnet, so not a Negroni, but I’ll update this page when I have the right ingredients. I think also possibly better strained. Next time I may shake, not too much, just enough to add a bit of water, and to cool the ingredients, and then strain, ideally into a chilled glass.

The sourness of Campari is ever present, and the Dubonnet comes through, but I don’t think it balances as well as it does with sweet vermouth, not from what I remember. A bit on the punchy side, so have with nibbles and not on an empty stomach.
